About US Online America Group
In the 2003 Geneva Motor Show, Audi launched the
second-generation of the A3, the Typ 8P, designed
by Walter de'Silva. Originally launched only as a
three-door hatchback with four cylinder engines,
it featured a new automobile platform (the PQ35
platform), a redesigned and more spacious
interior, new petrol engines with Fuel Stratified
Injection (FSI), and standard six-speed manual
gearboxes (except on the base 1.6).

In mid 2003, the line was updated with two
sports-orientated models, a 2.0 Turbo-FSI version
with 200 PS (197 hp/147 kW), and a 3.2 VR6 engine
(for the first time) with 250 PS (247 hp/184 kW).
Haldex Traction-based quattro four wheel drive,
and the S-Tronic semi-auto gearbox were introduced
as optionals (quattro is standard on the VR6) on
every model 140 PS (138 hp/103 kW) and over.

Driving Impressions

To call the 2009 Porsche 911 "sporty" would be an
understatement. Even without the adjustable
suspension, the 911 delivers a firm but pleasant
ride that's suitable for a drive to the office.
When put to the test, the 911 accelerates
effortlessly. In Sport or Sport Plus mode, the
suspension tightens up and hunkers down, providing
even more tautness through twisty corners. Big,
powerful brakes bite down hard and stop with ease.
But even though this car can be a monster, one
never feels out of control. Even with all that
weight and grip in the rear, Porsche's stability
control is able to keep the wheels on the ground
without being obtrusive. The new PDK transmission
is a welcome happy medium for those who desire the
traffic-friendly nature of not having a clutch,
yet still want the rapid shift performance of a
traditional manual. However, we're not fans of the
awkward shift buttons -- they should be paddles,
just like every other manufacturer employs.

All 2009 Hummer H3T models come with full-time
four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case.
All except the Alpha are powered by a 3.7-liter
inline five-cylinder engine that makes 239 hp and
241 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission is
a five-speed manual, and a four-speed automatic is
optional. Although the five makes decent power,
it's simply outmatched by the H3T's
near-5,000-pound mass, so acceleration is
leisurely at best. Towing capacity is rated at
4,400 pounds when properly equipped, and EPA fuel
economy estimates stand at 14 mpg city/18 mpg
highway and 15 mpg combined with either transmission.

The Alpha features a 5.3-liter V8 (with 300 hp and
320 lb-ft of torque) mated to a four-speed
automatic transmission. Towing capacity goes up to
5,900 pounds, and we'd expect its performance to
be about the same as the H3 Alpha, which sprinted
from zero to 60 mph in a relatively quick 8
seconds flat. With this engine, fuel economy drops
slightly to a 13/16/14 mpg rating.

The front-wheel-drive TSX is available with one
engine, a 2.4-liter inline-4 capable of 201 hp and
170 lb-ft of torque (172 lb-ft with the manual).
Available transmissions are a six-speed manual and
a five-speed automatic transmission with
steering-wheel shift paddles -- both are the same
price. EPA fuel economy with the automatic is 21
mpg city, 30 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined. The
manual drops that to 21/28/23, respectively.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2009 Subaru Forester compact crossover SUV is
available in three trim levels: 2.5X, 2.5X
Limited, 2.5XT and 2.5XT Limited. The Forester
2.5X is equipped with 16-inch steel wheels,
keyless entry, cruise control, full power
accessories and a four-speaker CD audio system
with an auxiliary audio jack. The 2.5XT model adds
17-inch alloy wheels, foglights, a rear spoiler,
roof rails, a sunroof, a tilt/telescoping steering
column, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls,
reclining rear seats and a six-speaker audio
system with a six-CD changer. The 2.5XT Limited
throws in heated mirrors, automatic climate
control, a power driver seat, heated front seats,
leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering
wheel and shifter.

Optional for the 2.5X is the Premium Package,
which adds 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, a
power sunroof and a reclining rear seatback. When
equipped with the Premium package, the 2.5X is
also eligible for one of two additional option
packages. The all-weather package includes heated
side mirrors, a wiper de-icer and heated front
seats. Going with the 2.5X Limited gets you the
all-weather package's equipment plus foglights, a
power driver seat, leather upholstery, a
leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter,
automatic climate control, and a six-speaker CD
audio system with a six-CD changer. There are no
available options on the 2.5XT. The Forester 2.5X
Limited and 2.5XT Limited, however, can be
outfitted with a navigation system.

About US Online America Group : Driving Impressions

Those who buy a V8-powered G8 because they want a
four-door modern-day muscle car will not be
disappointed. If you turn off traction control,
the GT or GXP will lay thick stripes of rubber in
your favorite parking lot until the cows come home
-- or until you run out of tires. What buyers may
not expect is the tight handling that comes with
the package, particularly in the case of the GXP,
which rides on GM's sport-biased FE3 suspension.

All's not perfect in the G8's world, of course.
The V6 is noisy and harsh in almost all driving
conditions and gets progressively worse the harder
you push the accelerator. Also, the upgraded
six-speed automatic on G8 GT models often
transmits a firm kick during upshifts that's
absent with the base five-speed unit. Brake feel
isn't optimal either, as the long-travel pedal
feels a bit soft for performance-driving purposes.
But overall, the G8 should go a long way toward
helping Pontiac reclaim its storied past. Driving
excitement is once again alive and well.

The 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan can be equipped with
one of three V6 engine choices. The base SE trim
gets a 3.3-liter V6 good for 175 horsepower and
205 pound-feet of torque. A four-speed automatic
is standard. Fuel economy for this engine is
disappointing given its meager output at 17 mpg
city/24 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined.

The SXT comes standard with a 3.8-liter V6 that
produces 197 hp and 230 lb-ft of torque. Optional
is a more modern 4.0-liter V6 making 251 hp and
259 lb-ft of torque. Both SXT engines come with a
six-speed automatic. Despite their differing power
outputs, they also get the same fuel economy at 16
city/23 highway and 18 combined. The 4.0-liter
Grand Caravan goes from zero to 60 mph in 8.8
seconds, which is rather quick for a minivan. All
Grand Caravans are front-wheel drive.

Safety

The Grand Caravan comes standard with antilock
disc brakes, traction and stability control, and
full-length side curtain airbags. Optional on both
the SE and SXT Caravans are second-row integrated
child booster seats (requires Swivel 'n Go).
Optional on the SXT is the Security Group, which
adds rear parking sensors, a blind spot monitoring
system and Rear Cross Path. The latter item aids
drivers any time the vehicle is in reverse by
warning of cross traffic in both directions to
prevent getting your Grand Caravan T-boned. A
rearview camera is also available.

In government crash tests, the 2009 Grand Caravan
scored a perfect five stars in all frontal- and
side-impact categories. In Insurance Institute for
Highway Safety testing, the Grand Caravan also
scored the best possible rating of "Good" in the
frontal offset and side-impact crash tests.
